I’m Kathryn Georghiou, an actor and award-winning writer of films, plays, poetry, short stories and audio dramas, and your creative writing guide at Where Writers Go.

Two great passions of mine are storytelling and adventure, so I decided to marry the two and create Where Writers Go.

Since as long as I remember, I have been writing. First with my dad before I was old enough to start school. We would make up silly stories about getting lost in a cartoon land with Wile E. Coyote chasing me with an ‘ACME Catch a Kathryn Kit’ and Goofy coming to my rescue.

Then I moved on to poetry. Even having a poem printed, framed and put up in the hall of my primary school when I was 10 years old.

For a long time, poetry was my lifeline. When things got too much, I would lose myself in stanzas to try and make sense of it all.

Poetry has never left me, I absolutely love the form. Especially spoken word, which I perform every so often in and around London.

In 2010, I teamed up with my best mate to create a mad-capped theatre company for family audiences. Here we wrote high-energy plays that we performed regularly at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Latitude, Camp Bestival, Standon Calling, and venues across London. At one point we even had a radio show, where we’d write stories every week and challenge each other with ridiculous games.

In 2012, I started an MA in Creative Writing. Me being me, I chose a different writing topic for each module because I wanted to learn as many writing styles as possible. I loved it and graduated with a Distinction.

In 2021, I was promoted to Director of Engagement and Innovation at London Business School. In this role I created school-wide student engagement strategies to incorporate the student voice into the School’s major change projects during the covid pandemic and beyond.

In 2023, I decided it was time to take the leap and become a fully freelance actor, writer, filmmaker and voiceover artist. Since then, I have been honoured to win three awards for 'Changing Tides', a short film I wrote, Directed and Produced, and had another short film script, 'Dance', short-listed for the Unsolicited Scripts Short Film Award.

Most recently, my new short film, ‘Sweet’, was short-listed for the Slick Film Awards and I have lots of other writing projects in the pipeline. It's save to say, I have seriously got the writer’s bug.

In a way, I blame Where Writers Go because since I started this journey I can't stop writing!

Just like you, I am using all the exercises and guided walks to spark inspiration for my own writing, and it really works. I cannot wait to share them with you and hear what stories you create.
